A run is made up of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, whereas a set is made up of three or four cards of the same rammy ollarank but different suits. Each player starts the game with a certain number of cards, typically seven or ten, depending on how many people are playing. After drawing a card from the discard pile or the stockpile, each player discards one card from their hand.
