One of these gold rings found its way onto the finger of Joshua Reichard, joining 15 other similar rings. Holding 16 WSOPC rings puts him at number four in the rankings and just three rings behind the top spot held by Ari Engel.

Reichard won Event #9: $400 H.O.R.S.E., beating a field of 119 players to collect $10,106 from a total prize pool of $39,270.

After being down to just a few antes earlier in the tourney, Reichard eventually beat Dustin Rowling heads up to take the event down.

Evan Bethyo and his winning hand.

The WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond $1,700 Main Event attracted a pleasingly round 900 entries, creating a less round prize pool of $1,363,500.

From that $1.4 million, $228,398 was earmarked for the first-place payout. And so was Evan Bethyo. Bethyo has been playing poker for a long time, with mixed results. But this time, it was his time.

"The monkey is off my back," he told the WSOP in his post win interview. "I've been grinding for a long time. Had a few final tables, a few big scores, but it was getting to the point where I just wanted the hardware. I wanted to be a champion more than I wanted the money."

Now he has the ring he's been looking for, having beaten John Reading heads up for the top spot. Reading won $152,272 for second place.
