The fundamental idea of Rummy is to use a standard deck of cards to form sets and runs. Being the first player to combine all of your cards into legitimate combinations—which can includebet aap runs (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit) or sets (three or four cards of the same rank)—is the main goal. The object is to reduce the number of points in the player's hand by drawing & discarding cards in turn. Each player is normally dealt a set number of cards at the start of the game, usually seven or ten, with the remaining cards forming a draw pile.
