- Handling the Cards. Every participant receives a hand of cards to start 111 Rummy. Depending on how many players there are, different amounts of cards are dealt: 10 cards for two to four players, & 7 cards for five to six players. The top card is turned over next to it to begin the discard pile, & the remaining deck is laid face down on the table to form the draw pile. Play time.

- A player must lay down their whole hand in one turn, without laying down any cards beforehand, in order to receive the 51 Bonus. This means that in order to be eligible for the bonus, a player needs to be able to form legitimate sets and runs using all of their cards at once. An extra 51 points are awarded to the player in addition to the points they receive for the cards they have laid down if they are able to fulfill this requirement. But if a player discards any cards before fulfilling the conditions for the 51 Bonus, they will not be able to receive the bonus for that round. The 51 Bonus ups the difficulty and excitement factor in 111 Rummy by requiring players to carefully consider their moves & strategize in order to increase their chances of receiving the bonus.
